The company:
We are delighted to be supporting our client, a leading civil engineering contractor with decades of experience in residential construction projects, as they seek to add a Commercial Administrator to their growing commercial team.
They have built a strong reputation within the provision of civils and groundworks in the residential new-build sector and pride themselves on maintaining exceptional standards across their work, leading to a strong order book of upcoming work.

The role:
The Commercial Administrator will provide essential administrative support to the commercial team, assisting with the smooth delivery of project-related tasks including cost tracking, document control, invoicing, procurement, and liaison with site teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the commercial team with day-to-day administration tasks
  • Maintain accurate records of subcontractor and supplier agreements
  • Assist with the preparation and processing of applications for payment and invoices
  • Track and report project costs, variations, and budgets in coordination with Quantity Surveyors
  • Prepare and manage documentation such as contracts, purchase orders, and subcontractor agreements
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and site teams to ensure timely communication and resolution of queries
  • Maintain document control systems and ensure all project documentation is up to date
  • Assist with monthly commercial reports and financial forecasting
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Some prior exposure to working in construction / groundworks sector (desirable)
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines

Qualifications

  • GCSEs or equivalent required (including English and Maths)
  • NVQ/SVQ in Business Administration or similar qualification (desirable)
