Technical Standards Manager

Solihull

Up to £40,000 + Car / Allowance + Package

Purpose of the Job:

To provide Sustainability advice to the company. To ensure a consistent quality of building construction and compliance with drawing information and construction legislation by carrying out regular site inspections; monitor and comment on construction information from both internal design departments and external architects and engineers; provide technical advice when required.

To provide detailed reports on site and sub-contractor performance. To provide training on any technical issues to site, sales and office staff.

To progress through training to:

Produce Code for Sustainable homes assessments where necessary. Produce home Energy Performance Certificates for all properties using NHER / Elmhurst and BRE licenses

Main Tasks:

  • Prioritise workloads and maintain a high quality of service.
  • Carry our timeous and meaningful PDRs for the team.
  • Consult with local authorities and statutory bodies with regard to sustainability issues to ensure developments are compliant and also cost effective for the group.
  • Provide advice on current and forthcoming building regulations advising on methods of compliance and the economic impact of new legislation
  • Inspect developments within the Region for construction quality, compliance with drawings, code for sustainable homes and legislation standards.
  • Issue monthly reports for every site to be issued to the Construction and Management team.
  • Produce summarised reports showing site and subcontractor performance.
  • Liaise with Building Managers, Engineers, Development Manager and other relevant personnel to advise of discrepancies and non-compliance with drawings, legislation or quality.
  • To make recommendations when required to ensure that problems are addressed and resolved whilst endeavouring to maintain construction programme.
  • Inspect information produced by internal design departments and external architects and engineers as to the adequacy and accuracy for building production.
  • To advise on remedial action on construction problems because of a recurring purchaser complaint at the request of the Build or Customer Care departments.
  • To advise on preventative action of problems occurring as a result of design information of construction and recognised by purchaser feedback.
  • Review existing build methods and materials with a view to investigating new products.
  • Actively seek out new and innovative products. Meet companies involved and evaluate products for cost, quality and suitability.
  • Organise quotes and any specialist reports with regards to air and sound testing on all developments.
  • Produce packs of accredited details for all developments.
  • Manage Air test results, Ventilation sign offs and Accredited Details for all completions.
  • Write and present training courses to Construction, Sales and office staff on all relevant
  • Technical issues.
  • Produce and publish Technical booklets and Newsletters to assist the business.
  • Produce thermal imaging surveys in response to issues raised through Customer Services.
  • Provide assistance through inspections to Customer Service issues. Investigating appropriate remedial actions as necessary.
  • Issue reports highlighting the status of site inspection report issues being rectified.
  • Produce Energy Performance Certificates for all properties using NHER plan assessor / Elmhurst software and licenses.
  • Provide advice on the implementation of renewable technologies and sustainability issues within developments.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of the Building Regulation, NHBC Standards and any associated British Standards.
  • Working knowledge of CAD (preferably AutoCAD).
  • Ability to liaise with personnel at all levels of production from construction staff up to and including Managing Directors.
  • Ability to liaise with purchaser
  • Working knowledge of SAP and CSH
