My client have grown steadily over two centuries to become one of the most successful and respected names in the building, property development and construction industry.

My client is one of the UK's leading construction groups operating within the student accommodation sector. Due to a steady increase in new contracts this award winning contractor is seeking to recruit a Construction Director on a permanent Basis with a proven track record working for a Main Contractor

Due to sustained growth and a healthy appetitive for their product, we are searching for a Construction Director to join their award winning senior team in London.

You will have experience in leading large developments through design, development, pre-construction and delivery, including high-rise RC frame.

  • Experience of high rise, mixed used developments is essential
  • Hands on approach to work
  • Solid work history within a permanent role
  • Working 4 days on site (North West and Midlands Region)
  • 1 x day per week office based in North of Wales

Construction Director Role:

  • Full P&L responsibility
  • Attend monthly board level meetings
  • Prepare plans and programs for the attainment of approved objectives and oversee their implementation
  • Oversee the development and implementation of all activities of the region including project management, business development, marketing, financial control, Health and Safety, personnel and audit and procurement
  • Develop and manage the implementation of group policy regarding work environment, administration, accounting, purchasing, reporting and human resources.
    Attend and participate in various industry associations
  • Drive the business units planning activities and provide leadership and overall guidance in both the administration and operation of the region
  • Manage the promotion, development and extension of the business of the region and protect the reputation and interests of the company
  • Identify the strategic objectives of the region and recommend their adoption to the Central Board

You will take over an existing portfolio of developments at various stages as well as mobilising a Large Development due to start this year. As the Construction Director you would be responsible for all operational site development, overseeing Quantity Surveyors, Site Manager, Project Managers, design team and external consultants. This position is pivotal to delivering schemes on time and budget and it is imperative that the Construction Director is capable of managing numerous.

Key Requirements:

  • You will have previously held a Project Director role with a leading UK Residential Developer
  • PRS/Build to Rent knowledge
  • Experience of successfully completing large UK construction projects ideally within residential
  • Experience managing Operational Teams
  • Experienced in board level reporting at group level
  • Broad knowledge of construction techniques with high technical expertise across many types of construction and forms of contract including RC Frame
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills
  • High level of commercial understanding and excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to develop and monitor robust programmes on complex multi-disciplinary projects
  • A clear track record of successfully managing project teams
  • Ability to prepare budgets, analyse financial statements, and understand accounting issues as they relate to property operations and reporting requirements
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB) or an equivalent professional body.
  • Degree in a construction related discipline
